What different nationalities do on vacations and what the locals think of
them
Travel agencies and hotels in Europe and the USA have held several surveys.
One of them has found that the vacation type people enjoy actually depends
on the country where tourist comes from.
There are some destinations that are popular among all tourists. For
example, sunbathing and swimming at the beach is the undisputed leader.
Some active types of vacations are also popular, for example, cycling,
sailing, and trekking holidays. Even when tourists want mainly to relax,
they still enjoy sightseeing and visiting places nearby.
But other activities strongly depend on where people come from.
– People from southern Europe, for instance, Greeks are keen on sports and
active holidays – 75% of Greeks prefer active holidays to lazy ones.
– Germans are completely different. About 50% of Germans name sunbathing as
their favorite holiday activity, especially in Spain – actually, 25% of
high–income Germans have always a plan to go to Spain in the following 12
months.
– However, Americans are concerned about skin cancer very much. Only 10% of
them love sunbathing during their vacations. The most popular activity,
which is done by 46% of
Americans, is going on tours of museums, historic buildings, and other
cultural heritage.

– Tourists from the United Kingdom enjoy drinking. About 60% of them drink
more than normal while away. Approximately one–third of these people
admitted that they drink five o more alcoholic drinks every day during
their vacations.
